Florance and the Machine

Florance and the Machine

From her first venture into the spotlight in 2005, Florence Welch’s unique style which can alternately lull the dawn chorus or turn blue skies black continues to work even the most seasoned A&R bods into a frenzy.

Managed by the Darlings of the Indie scene, Queens of Noize, and known not only for singing the sweetest country tinged melodies you could hope to find, Florence is renowned for her outspoken opinions giving a certain inner depth to songstress, others in the industry sometimes lack.

Florence says: “I don’t know what I want. But I do know what I don’t want. I want to make songs that make you squeal and jump, get all crazy,” she grins, doing exactly that “only I don’t know how to write them yet. I thought being totally musically would hold me back. I cant’ play the guitar, I can’t play drums” although she has recently worked a lone snare drum into her set, “I cant play anything. I can sing and, for the moment, I am treating that as a skill. Maybe all I have going for me is my voice and my confidence but that’s fine because, you can’t get up and say things you don’t mean.”

Florence continues: “I’m really excited to be involved in Jameson Live for St Patrick’s Day. It’s a great opportunity to be part of a campaign based around free live music in such cool and intimate venues”.
